Psoriasis is a non-contagious common autoimmune condition where you develop scaly patches, called plaques, across your skin. It affects an estimated 7.5 million to 8 million people in the United States and about 125 million worldwide. Your immune system and your genes both play a role in causing it [1].
Psoriasis causes your skin to produce cells faster than the old ones can fall off, which is what creates the plaques of thick and flaking skin. Your immune system gets confused and starts attacking your own skin. Antibodies flood the area to defend against the attack, and the surrounding tissue becomes inflamed. You may notice discolored skin, swelling, pain, and tenderness [2].
It’s stressful to have psoriasis. Once you find a treatment that works, it doesn’t end there. Psoriasis as well as flaky dry skin is a constant battle. It’s time-consuming and you must be attentive to it. If you are struggling with psoriasis, make sure you seek out a dermatologist about your condition. What works for me might or might not work for someone else. If you are struggling mentally, seek out a professional.
I was diagnosed with plaque psoriasis in 1990 during a stressful time. When that stress resided, the psoriasis remained. It became weather and stress related. At times over the years psoriasis plaques have covered up to approximately 40% of my body, face, scalp, and nails. In addition, I also have extraordinarily dry flaky skin.
Each ingredient in our formulations has a deliberate purpose. Our penetrating oil and butter products have qualities of hydrating, soothing, moisturizing, brightening, and much more. For example, hyperpigmentation (dark patches) or hypopigmentation (light spots) cause skin discoloration. This is where using ingredients that smooth, fade, and brighten psoriasis scars come into effect.
Our Psoriasis Healing Compound not only dries up stubbon plaques, but it also deeply moisturizes the skin.
