Whether you call it a coriander plant, or a cilantro plant, it doesn’t matter because it’s the same plant. In the U.S., the seeds are known as coriander and the leaves are referred to as cilantro. In the UK, the plant’s leaves are called coriander, and the seeds are referred to as coriander seeds. In India, the coriander plant goes by the name of dhania [1].
Is Coriander Good for the Skin?
YES! Coriander is full of antioxidants that can destroy or neutralize the free radicals that cause harm to your skin. Coriander is also full of skin-friendly vitamins and minerals that can boost your general complexion and improve your skin’s vitality. Studies have also revealed that the herb has potent anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that can help treat a range of common skin conditions [1].
Antioxidants can help protect the skin against free radical damage. Free radical reactions lead to skin lesions, which are characterized by a disruption of defense and restoration mechanisms in the skin. Free radicals adversely affect the condition and functioning of the skin [2].
